Alright so I'm kind of laughing about this, but I have a quck hand/story to tell you guys about. I'm actually kind of (very) embarrassed about it, but it affects your image at the table, how people percieve you, etc., and it's definately a mistake you should avoid.

Just sat down, 4-tabling pokerstars NL100 full ring, already dropped a buyin or so to some nice bluffs/bad situations/poor play/people limping 48s to turn a flush on you/etc. Looking back, I'm already a bit on tilt I think. Then this doozy comes up.

I get AKo UTG 9 handed table, raise to 4x. All folds, fish thats about $60 deep calls from the BB. Flop 337. Check, I bet $6, fish min-raises. I call. Turn J. He checks. Pot is around the same as his stack size.. about $30. I put him all-in. He thinks and calls with AQ. River Q.

In my rage the chat box went something like this:

Lukie: omfg
Lukie: are you ****ing kidding me?
Lukie: i've never seen a worse ****ing call in my life

Then a few hands later, I'm fortunate to hit a boat and I destack the same fish who happened to hit trips. Of course along those few hands he had lost a good chunk of change that he took from me, but these things happen. He was Awful.

Lukie: thanks for my money back retard.

And he left...

out of interest what made you fire a second barrel against such a fish thats likely to call with a crappy TP/overpair and unlikely to be pushed off?

also how often do you call a min c/r of your cont bet when unimproved?

Meh, I dunno. The proper play is obviously to just dump my A high to the check min-raise, and it's something I almost always do. Calling here was just me being stubborn and wanting to play my position and seeing what he'd do on the turn. After he checks the turn, I was very confident that he didn't have shit, and he only has to fold there every other time...

Hand should go like this: I raise to 4x, 1 caller from BB, flop comes rags, he checks, I fire out 2/3 pottie: I'm done with the hand if I don't get a fold.. unless of course he calls and a K or A hits the turn.

i think its a mistake to retroactively assign fish status to players. the second he made the call for the rest of his stack you probably thought,

'shit, he really does have have 88. well at least i have six outs'

when you make a play where the only call beats you, i think it takes a lot of moxie to call the other guy a fish.

Sometimes, I get really really sarcastic, but they usually don't catch on.

"Wow, what a great play, all you needed was one more card for your straight, of course you're supposed to call, it's only 30 bucks, congratulations!"
