I'm wondering what hands you use to steal with when in cutoff or the button and it folds down to you? Were talking normally with no reads or anything. Are you raising any 2 just to push em off or do you wait for comething like 56s or like j10o? I seem to be having alot of luck with the suited connectors. Even if I get called I can make a decent hand every now and again. So what kinda cards do you use to steal with?

What type of game?

Also a true steal is just that - you are looking to take a pot preflop with any two cards based on a read.

Now - having a hand like 56s or even better TJs I would say is more of a semi-bluff preflop. You want to just take the pot, but if it is called at least you have cards that you still might be able to proceed with.

SNG and MTT. I dont see many steals in cash games. @ my levels at least.

ok so a steal = Junk link 460 270 k3o ?

And a sembluff would be more or less just a calling or limping hand? Like 10Jo KJo or Axs 74o hehe? Not total garbage but not a prime hand by far.

So I guess I should modify the question to what do you Semi bluff with?

well it's a pretty general question. And the steal definition is just mine. Others might say you are stealing with what I call semi-bluffing hands.

General reply - note the word general here (i.e. everyone needs to figure out your own style). I don't do much stealing unless it is worth it. E.g. in the later levels of a MTT I'll steal when I'm the button or CO at basically any point. Usually I'm able to do this becuase I haven't been caught stealing earlier. But even in the earlier middle levels I'll steal to weakness with any two cards. So the general response is that stealing or even semi-bluffing isn't really about your cards - it's about the situation and making a play based on a read that you are probably going to take the pot down preflop.
