Thanks for the website. Good stuff and a pretty cool/generous community of contributors.

I'm a new fish, haven't read any books, and am wondering about practical interpretations of the "Statistics".

Does anyone have any benchmark numbers for comparison. After 200-300 hands, I am consistently running about 23-25% win ratio (on 10-player tables) with 50-55% flops seen and a 33-35% win ratio when flops are seen. I have a feeling the win ratio is too low and I am calling too many flops.

Obviously, the total $$ gained or lost is the ultimate "statistic". I figured that since they are showingus these stats, they must mean something to the more advanced player.

Thanks a million.

How much did you lose? More importantly, what's your Party Poker handle?

That's messed up man.

Anyway, back to the original post. I'd say that you are seeing way too many flops. My sessions I usually see about 30-37% of the flops. Not too say that I win alot of money, but I play pretty tight and have been doing ok since I have read the essays on this sight and put it to use in my game.

But, if you are willing to give up your PP handle, then go right ahead. :P

Thanks friends. Only played $1/$2 for about a week.

After reading your essays I switched to NL tonight, employed the strategies best I could. So far:

164 Hands
12% won
38% showdowns

30% flops seen
39% win if flops seen

Best part is $70 up.

Thanks again.

PS-Does this mean I have to tithe to FTR now?

Nice win rates. Sounds like you got a great run of cards. Keep at it. I had a $390+$100 bonus run at the 3/6 tables when I started and it really helped to have the cushion when I learned the NL ropes and took my first downward swings.

30% flops seen is ok if you got a great run of cards or know how to play a lot of hands well at the right table. For a while I ran between 30-40% flops seen. Then I learned to fold more trap hands (QJo) and out of position drawing hands, dropping down to 20-30% flops seen in the process.

MartyB,

Welcome to FTR, glad my essays could help you. Sounds like you are on the right track. Obviously, since you've read much of the material here, I think it was a good move to switch to no-limit.

As regards to the tithe... well I would only hope that if the site has helped you out, that you would spread the word. If players sign up to PartyPoker through this site, that is the only way we are rewarded.

Keep us posted on your progress, catch you later.

Thanks again, Mr. T. I will spread the word and tell people to link PP thru this sight first (wish I had). I'll let you know how it goes from time to time. Bottom line is that it's a fun thing thing for us old folks (46yrs) to do when other avenues of pleasure have been efffectively cut off from us (don't get married).

Cheap thrillls - ....

Kindest Regards,

LOL, don't get married... that's funny...

Obviously, I'm not married yet because I'm spending all my time updating this website or playing online poker...

Good luck to you, talk to you later.

Yeah, CHr's stats do seem a little off.

He would have had to have his Party Poker client open for months to have that many session games, right? Must be one rock solid windows installation.

Flops seen range from 18-30%, usually in low 20s. If you are over 30 you are playing too many hands.

Showdowns won should range from 66-100%.

Win % if flop seen 25% + is good.

I always check my stats. The above number apply to 150 + hands played or about a 2 hour session which is probably the smallest sample you should use.

40% win if flop seen is almost perfect. Essentially your are winning almost 1/2 of all the flops that you stick around to see. Over the long haul, if you can win nearly half of your hands when your mony is in the middle, you will be a winner.

I am happy with winning 25% or better.

Yeah looks like you are missing some value on the river, its hard to pop that last bet or raise in sometimes with a scary baord, my stats are probably similar i'll post them when i get home on Thursday. Have around 2.5k 6 SH hands.

Yeah, I've been working on the missed value bet problem. However, on the flip side I've very good about avoiding paying off 1 or 2 BB when I get outdrawn and have picked off quite a few river bluffs, so by just kicking up my aggression I wouldn't expect to overall come out ahead. Just need to balance out my judgement a little more in favor of betting.

Hmm this is confusing,

my stats are
games won 20
flops seen 28%
win % if flops seen 72%

But Im not doing much better than breakeven moneywise?? what am I doing wrong? My guess is losing too many big pots due to carelessnes. typically I will make 100 or so in 10 and 5 sized pots then blow 60 or 70 playing 2 pair when a flush comes on the river and wipes me out. But I cant see what Im doing wrong I bet hard enough to knock most fish off the pot but get stung by reasonable pairs making it to a flush or straight. But Im astonished that the consensus is that better than 25 percent is good for games won flops seen. Im thinking there has to be a major flaw in my betting.

take today.
games played 165
games won 22 %
flops seen 31% (high I know but usually im lower )
games won if flops seen 68%

yet im down 100 bucks on the session in a .5 1 dollar game??

Any suggestions?

Scotty
