Getting a little burnt out on the NL ring game, I thought I'd branch out into MTT's a little after reading HOH1&2 and Kill Phil. I'm looking at playing the $10+1 buy-in tourneys that run on the Crypto sites. The max # of entrants on these is 400 but it usually tops out at 200 and averages 120ish from what I've seen.

First, anyone play these at Crypto regularly? Any thoughts on this site's tourneys?

More generally, how many would you need to play before you can figure out if you're any good or if you should stay away from them entirely? What would you say are average ROI, ITM numbers?

It's very difficult to get a good sample size of MTTs if you only track buyin/prize/ROI. You need quite a bit more info about *each tourney you play to get a feel for your results.

I think you should build a spreadsheet with ITM/ROI columns but also
stack size after 30 minutes | 1 hr | 90 min | 2 hrs

If crypto lets you, also track:
flops-seen % 1st 30 min | first hour | 90 min | 2 hrs

Also won without showdown for second hour -- this is where you should be grabbing some pots. Get creative; but be as thorough as you have time to be.

I'm not a big MTT guy, so maybe someone who is can share ideas.
