You do a lot of thinking for a short-stack.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

There is nothing inherently wrong with open-limping.

If you told me that you received AA ten times in a row, got all-in preflop against 72o each time, and lost a full buy-in each time, what was your mistake?

Sure I do, I'm a pretty caring guy.
The first pain from beats and/or coolers is when we're expecting one result and a less desirable result happens. We do this naturally since we have emotions designed to trigger when there is a gap between expectation and reality. The prolonged agony from what we describe as beats and/or coolers really comes from thinking about them and talking about them endlessly. When we do these things, we're bringing up events that naturally trigger emotions that cause us pain. If we stop bringing those things up and stop paying attention to them as best we can then they stop hurting nearly as much.
So yes, the mistake is telling me, but not for those reasons.
Edit: I remembered something worth sharing.
The worse I've ever felt about a bad beat was inside of the first week I played 25nl ever. I got all-in about $40 deep with 99 on a rainbow board of 963 and lost against 66 to a 6 on the river. Now, I've taken a lot of beats since then, and I've lost to quite a few one-outers also. As a matter of fact, inside of my first week of 200nl I suffered two hands almost identical to the above for a total of about $550 in losses inside of about a 5 minute period.
The reason that the $40 I lost at 25nl hurt so much worse than the $550 I lost at 200nl hurt is twofold. First, I was less experienced and less conditioned emotionally for poker. Second, I replayed the first beat in my mind over and over for at least a week -- with the $550 back to back beats at 200nl, I literally forgot it had happened within 10-15 minutes, and only remembered it when I went back to review my play for the day.
So what's the difference between a beat and a bad beat?

You just wanna bottle up all those bad beat emotions, until one day you're playing live & some dernk runner-runner boat's over yer set and you roundhouse his head clean off?
No, we must pound the notion of "EV" into our heads so hard that a bad beat is easily dismissed as nothing more than one of the many bumps along the rocky road of variance.
Or get a punching bad. Great exercise and stress relief.

If you bluff one time in one poker hand, that doesn't make you a bluffer.
If you win one time in one poker hand, that doesn't make you a winner.
But if you fuck one fat chick...
