What to do with:
(NL ring or sng)
J9s to a raised pot.
A9o anytime.
K9s and o to a raised pot.
These, and some similar, I usually fold. Am I letting go of some potential winners here?
Thanks in advance
Dean

fold x 3
I wouldnt say your holding on to too much with any of those. The Kxs question comes up a lot, and when I throw it away I pay attention to see if something would have come out. Rarely do I ever see it turning into anything more than a K high flush which will get beaten 400% of the time with my luck.
The way I look at Axo, even specifically A9o is that I have to count on hitting a pair of nines and having top kicker. Of course, 3 of a kind is nice, but the pair is more reasonable. Otherwise you hit a pair of aces and your kicker doesnt have a great chance of getting you anywhere.

Fold.
Only raise it to steal blinds when shorthanded in a SnG.
Fold.

I'm also somewhat of a beginner, but I'd probably fold all 3 as well. The only one I'd even think about is limping in with the A9o and if nothing good hit I'd get out fast. but assuming a preflop raise, none of these hands are worth it.

Raise!
Call down!
Limp-Raise![/sarcasm]
Default to folding unless you can steal dead money.

This is a "Do as I do, not as I say" situation. (instead of a "Do as I say, not as I do")

I play with the maxim, if it is good enough to call with, it is good enough to raise with. If you feel comfortable raising pre-flop with crap-hands like that, then do so. If your gut tells you "hey J9 isn't a good raise-with hand" then Fold Fold Fold :P
