It has taken me waaaay too long.
For anyone interested, my main problems have been....
1. My general crappyness
2. Lack of time (work / family / other shit etc.)
3. Lack of focus
Going to aim for $2K by the end of the year. Probably pushing it a little but hey, why not.

$2000 by the end of the year? That better be $20,000 with you missing a digit
I mean what kind of a goal is that? That's like 40 BIs at NL25. So you're setting yourself up for a pace of going like 8 BIs a month? So that's 10K hands if you get 4ptbb/100 WITH rakeback. 10K hands a month seems a little on the low side.

Not for people with familes, jobs, mortgages, responsibilities. I'd be lucky get 10K hands in 2 months of play. Maybe this is why I can't get past 25NL. Oh to be young again...

Thats awesome Kevster, great stuff! You should be really proud, especially if you couldnt play many hands. I know most people their game goes south if they cant play regularly, so winning while not playing much is even tougher!
iopq, thats just rediculous thing to say, ffs not everyone will have the same amount of time available.
|
|
Just playing to improve.

I'm kidding about 20K, but if you don't have like 40 minutes a day to dedicate to poker you're probably not really that serious about it
hell, some people watch TV like 3 hours a day

I played 10k in April, 7k in May and 15k in June. Sometimes you have time, sometimes you don't.

Ummm... Not everyone strives to have poker as their main form of income. So not everyone is "serious" about it. If he has time, he has time. If not congratulate him on his accomplishments and move on.
Good Job Kevster.
Also, lol @ you guys wanting to find time to play. I try to make excuses not to .

First up, I don't play cash.
Second up, try getting yourself a 20mth old child and seeing how much poker you can squeeze in after a full days work, followed by food, some family time sorting out my website and then thinking about getting up at 7am the next day.
Finally, I'm not that serious about it. I want to do well and improve but I have a healthy income from my full-time job. If I could get to the stage where the few hours of poker I manage a week could mirror that income, then great but meh imo

So next goal is $10K, eh?
Haha, congrats man! It's a great feeling. All that hard work is starting to pay off!

That's how winners play; we convince the other guy he's making all the right moves.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

Depends, I guess that's true if you mean 'aiming to go pro in the future' when you say 'serious'. I personally would define 'serious' as 'making a solid effort to improve one's game and move up stakes', although I guess that makes most people on this forum serious by default
