I am relatively new here and NOT any kind of expert, but I wanted to post for other newbies something I have realized in my development (and I know this is mentioned in other posts but I wanted to spotlight it).

Playing SnG's will definitely help you develop skills to make you better at the final table of MTT's when you start getting there. I would play all these MTT's, and as we got close to or on the final table, my game would just erode to the point of hoping to just simply survive into the money (or bigger money). I really felt outclassed by my opponents as I hoped and prayed for cards to allow me to make some kind of move. Any one else feel like that?

Well, what really helped me was playing cheap SnG's. One site has a format with 15 players, and there are never more than 5 at a table at any time. This format has been huge at helping me learn how to play position, stack, the other players, etc. When those blinds are coming around so often, you learn right away that you CANNOT just wait for your cards to "be right".

Now you keep playing those SnG's, and pretty soon, you are winning them and getting better at short-handed play and heads up play. One day you are in an MTT, you play well, and find yourself at the final table with a great opportunity. And you just switch into that mode. And it is soooo sweeet.

Helped me a ton - along with all the great information on this site.

Cant say i play sngs very much anymore although thats where i learnt the basic skills.
You've probably got a point although i'd say that if your poker gets you to the final table then keep playing it no need to change (especially if you've been stealing and making aggressive enough plays) Although heads up you gotta be very aggressive.
Just remember to put cards down when your beat and find a better spot. Especially this late in the game.
