How do you weigh the benefits of set hunting here? I just don't know how to factor in the BB's call. Easy fold if the BB doesn't call since the CO is so short. Since effective stack size is now my stack size, does that change things (even if I was at a full 100BB stack?)? I'm thinking no since we are less likely to double through the BB since he just called and may very well be set hunting himself and fold on the flop.

I'm fairly new to the table, so no read on either villain in this hand yet, though they seem to be loose in the 27-32% range over less than 30 hands.

No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $0.15/$0.25
9 players
Converter

Stack sizes:
UTG: $29.10
UTG+1: $19.05
MP1: $49.35
Hero: $22.98
MP3: $24.50
CO: $13.04
Button: $23.55
SB: $17.19
BB: $45.01

Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is MP2 with 2 2
3 folds, Hero calls, MP3 folds, CO raises to $2.25, 2 folds, BB calls, Hero ?

its a 9x BB raise, CO is sitting with half a stack, not a good set hunting oppertunity, fold

You have a ok hand, tryed to see a flop for cheap, got raised, get out and cut your losses

Um, BB called and has a stack of $45. Doesn't that justify?

Good question. From my point of view BB probably has a speculative hand as well, and wont pay you off if you hit your set. Implied odds go down vs him. Also the 9xbb is pretty crazy. Only way I see BB paying you off is if he flops set over set, and 22 obv have the worst end of that.

only call this type of pfr if you and the raiser are both deepstacked

I agree that set-hunting here isn't profitable.

How about a squeeze?

This just happened and I thought of this thread:

First orbit, haven't event fired up the HUD yet.

Cryptologic
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $0.15/$0.25
7 players
Converter

Stack sizes:
UTG: $15.65
UTG+1: $7.05
MP1: $29.65
HERO: $24.60
Button: $41.65
SB: $22.59
BB: $18.10

Pre-flop: (7 players) HERO is CO with 6 6
UTG calls, UTG+1 raises to $0.75, MP1 folds, HERO calls, Button calls, SB folds, BB raises to $2.25, UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, HERO calls, Button calls.

I'm getting 4:1 on my money even before the flop. Implied odds of course huge.

Flop: 7 J 6 ($11.4, 5 players)
BB is all-in $15.85, UTG calls all-in $13.4, UTG+1 folds, HERO calls, Button folds.

I'm not sure if anyone has the flush, but even if they do I have outs at these odds. Not quite 3:1 but close enough for me

Turn: 7 ($56.5, 1 player + 2 all-in - Main pot: $51.6, Sidepot 1: $4.9)

River: 4 ($56.5, 1 player + 2 all-in - Main pot: $51.6, Sidepot 1: $4.9)

Results:
Final pot: $56.5

UTG+1 folded QQ otherwise it would have been a bigger pot
BB had AA. Poor chap.
UTG had 85s (diamonds). *sigh*
Blah blah Op Blah blah
