With these two hands specifically, I basically gave up on the hand after the turn completed both straight and flush draws. Is this the right play, or am I just being too weak in these spots? Part of me feels like I'm opening the door to be bluffed out of the hand, but I couldn't bring myself to fire off another bet with these. Also, no real reads for villain in hand 1, and villain in hand 2 was calling PF raises light (I'm guessing due to the fact that it was 3-handed).

Hand 1:
POKERSTARS GAME #13937098195: HOLD'EM NO LIMIT ($0.02/$0.05) - 2007/12/18 - 04:22:46 (ET)

Seat 2: seek757 ($11.55 in chips)

Dealt to Hero [Kd Kh]
doublepro: folds
Hero: raises $0.15 to $0.20
ChaosMaster2: calls $0.20
seek757: folds
SpadePadre: folds
rkgreen04: folds
*** FLOP *** [9h Qc Tc]

ChaosMaster2: calls $0.35

ChaosMaster2: bets $0.25
Hero: calls $0.25
*** RIVER *** [9h Qc Tc 8c] [7h]

ChaosMaster2: bets $1

Hand 2:
POKERSTARS GAME #14064989973: HOLD'EM NO LIMIT ($0.05/$0.10) - 2007/12/24 - 03:58:32 (ET)
Table 'Cygnus' 6-max Seat #1 is the button
Seat 1: Hero ($14.50 in chips)
Seat 3: gillouch ($9.65 in chips)
Seat 4: vuurwerk_16 ($19.65 in chips)
gillouch: posts small blind $0.05
vuurwerk_16: posts big blind $0.10
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to Hero [Th Td]
Hero: raises $0.30 to $0.40
gillouch: folds
vuurwerk_16: calls $0.30
*** FLOP *** [Ts Js Kc]
vuurwerk_16: checks
Hero: bets $0.60
vuurwerk_16: calls $0.60
*** TURN *** [Ts Js Kc] [Qs]
vuurwerk_16: checks
Hero: checks
*** RIVER *** [Ts Js Kc Qs] [5h]
vuurwerk_16: checks
Hero: checks

Now that I look at it again, for hand 2, would a value bet on the river have been better then just checking it down, and if so, how much?

Thanks for the input.

For hand one, I think that bet/folding the turn is better than check/calling it.

For hand two you could bet half pot on the river and fold to a raise (although I'm not really a cash player so I actually don't know the optimal bet size ... hopefully someone comes to correct or confirm me here!)

slowing down on boards like this is actually a strong play.
In hand 1 you´re almost never ahead on this turn, except vs AQ/KQ. At 5NL we can expekt villian to have a couple of 2pr hands in his range as well, what makes this an easy fold to me.

hand 2 is different, b/c we can now beat the donk 2pr-hands and go for half pot value on river

hand one...easy fold.

hand two...bet/call river to a minraise. any larger raise, and i prolly dump. but, it really takes a lot for me to dump a set at a 5NL table.

as long as you can fold to raises, there is no shame in half-potting rivers on scary boards. villain is likely just as afraid. most callers to your bet will be weaker. but, watch the raises. if you know villain will bluff, c/calling isnt a bad line, either.

but clearly, hand one is much weaker than hand two.
LHE is a game where your skill keeps you breakeven until you hit your rush of random BS.

Nothing beats flopping quads while dropping a duece!
