In general, is it a good idea to comment on the play of other players at your table? To let them know you are paying attention? Or is this a bad idea?
I'm not talking about "what a donk play, idiot" comments, but stuff like "I like that post-flop bet". Or its it better to stick to "nh, sir" (or ma'am, of course)?
Thanks

its just giving your opponents more information than you need to. Theres nothing wrong w/ being friendly, but i want my opponents to think im as careless at the tables as they are.

Agreed. Its rare that i will say something to another player besides nh (whether im being sarcastic or not). Your not going to gain anything by the other players thinking that your actually paying attention to the table and it could potentially kill your action.

that was my gut feeling too. Unlike live play, you never really know who is paying attention. I'm sure that can be an advantage at times. Besides, it's sneaky, and I like sneaky.

at the lowest stakes, you can be sure that almost no one is paying attention to you. If you start giving out advice on how to play, even the donks will know youre better than average. I also love to tell people nh after they make a horrible play or suck out and encourage them to keep playing that way.

don´t do anything without a reason and do anything, if you think it will increase your winning.
be nice to the lp fish, try to make the table teacher tilt or make them think you´re the donk , encourage the donks to draw against their odds, even/especially when they draw out on you.
attacking the wannabe pro´s who comment every hand and behave like they´re the only one who knows how to play poker will earn you a stack once in while.

I often type in stuff like "HOW THE F$#K COULD YOU CALL ALL IN WITH KT OFFSUIT??" and then delete it before hitting enter and exit quietly.

i like to compliment BAD players a lot. things like, "wow, thats not how i'd play that...nh." or, "you got serious guts to make that call...nh" maybe, "man, i bet you had it again " you get the idea.
i need them to have fun and keep playing horrible poker. it just makes my experience enjoyable, too.
WIN-WIN.

All good advice.
especially trying to get the table coach to shut up. why try and teach people to play better?
take there $$, and thats your lesson.

Press their tilt buttons! FTW!!!
I once got bored playing and spent the whole time talking to someone. Looked down and realised I had blinded myself away. oops. (bottle of red to blame).
