Do any of you look up Sharkscope stats when playing cash games?
I use it as an indicator. It is pretty good at locating fish and sharks.
Even though generally some players can be winners at tourneys but losers / break evens at cash (and vice versa) it usually gives me a good idea. And I look for confirmation during the game.
What are your thoughts?

fish have stats like 30/5/.7 or some a lot of times even worse looking. people with sensible stats like 20/12/4 over the first 20 or so hands, pay attention to and try to get some notes on. you'll find out soon enough if they're sharks or wannabes.
imo you get every stat you need (except bet-sizing) from hud programs, seeking out anything else seems like a lazy substitute for coming up with your own reads

Most tourneys lack a lot of post-flop play anyways, whilst post-flop play in cash games is very important. It doesn't really say much about your opp when you use it to look them up in a cash game imo.
By the way, I've read it is prohibited to use sharkscope on stars and FTP etc.? Have there been bannings or account closures in the past due to using such sites?

sharkscope is a good indicator, but what if the palyer have opt out and you cannot get any data for that player, are there other sites that give you info on players?

Well if they have opted out you can give them credit for not being a total dummie. The fact they are even aware of sharkscope mean I would pay special attention.

Actually, when I was first starting at the $1 SNGs, I found several players that were down $4k or $5k playing $1 games. You need some seriously hard-core dedication to lose that much!

I'm aware that sharkscope exists but I didn't know about "opting out." How do I do that? I'm not as computer literate as some of the younger folks on here.

I think he means this: When you subscribe to sharkscop and pay the fee you can hide your name from other players.
Don't shoot me if i'm wrong

Actually you can block your name whether or not you subscribe. There's an option on there somewhere, I haven't been there in a while.

i sure hope that stupid fish use sharkscope to look up my party sn.
I'm down a bunch (jumping fish) from playing sngs there when i was first learning poker, it mentions nothing of my running 5ptBB/100 since i moved back there to learn 6-max...
