Hey y'all...

Would appreciate if you'd look at this hand. I'm pretty irked about definitely one, and possibly two errors.

1. the reraise after the turn SCREAMED "I HAVE THE STRAIGHT" -- esp after she bet out PF, and then called after. Should've easily placed her on AK.
2. the question -- did I bet too light post-flop?

Results oriented is bad. Focus on the fact that you put some pretty good money in here, though you did make a couple small errors.

At these stakes you want to avoid the impulse to hide your strength after the flop when extra cards can beat you. I think you bet 20¢ into a 48¢ pot on the flop if I'm reading it right. You need to bet about 50¢ here. There are way too many opponents unwilling to fold a wide range of hands on many flops at this level to worry about extracting value through deception. No deception required. Punch it hard almost every time. Trust me they'll follow.

Aside from that, even if you bet 50¢ on that flop. you have a person with AK thinking they have 10 live outs. They're going to call and hit anyway. There's really not much you could have done except slow down on the turn and hope for a cheap showdown short of a paired board. The way you bet out on the turn was a little reckless, but not terrible, and then you got a raise and a call behind creating a huge pot worth going for. You had pot odds and a +EV call at these stakes where they could be raising a lot of stuff that you're ahead of. These things happen. Don't let it bother you.

Small stakes are high variance. get used to it. Put in good money like this consistently and you'll win, since this is winning poker. Good Luck

Okay -- another one. And, thanks for the great advice. I think you are probably right that I should bet out a little stronger postF.

I have another one, since I really think I'm learning a lot this way...and I appreciate all the help!!

Is there any real way I could've placed this guy on a set? Should I have bet differently? Or, did I just get beat? That, I'm more than okay with -- happens

Best,

You played the second hand beautifully. You were very fortunate to be in hand with a very passive opponent who let you off the hook. I love your check behind on the river here. It seems like a spot to continue extracting value from a wide range of hands willing to call, but sometimes you have to trust your instinct and feel the heist by seeking the show cheap. Nicely done.

Second hand you played fine. First hand, at these stakes, you need to raise more preflop and bet more on the flop. Preflop, when reraising, you want to reraise around 2-3 times the pot(or more at microstakes). An initial raise should be based on the size of the blind, but a reraise should be based on the size of the pot. On the flop, bet 1-2X the pot. This is an overbet at most tables, but at small stakes, you should push your edges hard because people will call you. On the turn in hand 1, you are fine to call because you have more than enough odds to draw to the boat/quads. It is probably better to just call to hope the third player will overcall. Whether you push or not, all your chips are likely to go in on the river, but playing for the turn overcall will make you a little moremoney in the long run.

True, but that comes later on for most.
