if someone refers to "BB" in a NL context, do you assume they are talking about Big Blind, or Big Bet (aka ptBB, or 2xbigblind)?

does it matter in what context used? i.e. if someone says "we are playing with 150BB effective stacks" or "my winrate in August is 3BB/100"?

what's the best way to avoid confusion, short of writing the full word out?

If people are talking about winrates, I assume they are talking about PTBB/100. If they are saying they have x amount of bbs in a game I assume they are talking regular big blinds and not big bets.

if it's written, BB means big bet, and bb means big blind

the only time "bb" means "big bet" in NL is when talking about winrates.
Wikipedia is the best thing ever. Anyone in the world can write anything they want about any subject. So you know you are getting the best possible information.

i like this method, it is the least confusing. but i agree w/ martin and pelion, big bets are only used in winrates for nl.
