Since there isn't really a GENERAL poker discussion forum, I figured I'd post this here since I play in micro stakes.
I have an Organic Chemistry test tomorrow (possibly the hardest subject EVER!) and while studying, all I can think about is playing poker. It's quite the diversion. I figured, to help get my mind off playing poker, I'd exclude myself from being able to play poker for 24 hours. This way, I can't even think of the option of playing poker and I'll be more focused on my studies.
Have you ever excluded yourself from playing poker to finish a project, study, or take care of some sort of errand? Or maybe you felt you were losing money out of control and you had to use this to control yourself (even though that would make this thread a bit more serious).
P.S. I find it a little funny that I am trying not to think about poker while studying yet I am here posting on the FTR forums.
This thread isn't really a newbie question...it's just simply something I thought would be cool to discuss!

I think we've all been there dude. I work a lot from home and poker is always calling my name. Most of the time I get stuff done but at least once a week I put off some project to squeeze in an hour session here and there. When I was taking online classes however, I didn't play for almost 2 months. That's because there was absolutely no time for it and I wasn't going to risk getting a low grade for courses I paid $1,000 to take.

First of all, wrong thread. You probably meant to post on the other thread I made. This thread is about excluding yourself from playing poker.
Secondly, you can't see threads when you aren't logged in...so your post is invalid two different ways.

interesting. See, I try to find a way to NOT play poker. However, the time comes to do work I would rather play. Either way, get your ass to studying or else you will fail the test, fail the class, drop out of college, and you won't be able to support yourself because you only play the micros currently. So you will have to move back to your parents, you will get very little sex, you will then fail at life, and /cutwrists.
There ya go. Motivation. Now if only I could do my shit when it needs to be done.

Wow, I have the opposite problem. I keep putting off putting in the hands to do other shit. Then I go "OK I can stop now and I'll play a second session later" and I never do.

In a funny twist...I actually had my test postponed until Wednesday since we had a snowstorm up here in New York. Therefore, I cannot play poker for another three hours. I guess it's time for me to take a nap!
