I've had a few killer days of poker where I was running extremely hot. I multiplied my bankroll X 10. Now, though, I've blown half of it back. Still way ahead, but I've definitely turned cold.

I've seen some horrendous beats, and some of it I can safely say that I was simply outplayed or overplayed my hand.

Right now I'm certain I'm not playing my best poker, so it's time to take a few days off and cool off and come back to it with a fresh perspective... maybe do some reading.

I was wondering what you guys to handle cold runs. Do you play through them... or step back and come back reinvigorated?

I fully understand that my cold run is just the balance for my hot run... I just want to get away from it before I end up back where I was... thoughts?

I play through them, but become even tighter than usual, and a bit less aggressive.

I try and sit out...but will end up playing again.

there are some days where you always have the 2nd best hand at the table / kicker beat... just gotta evaluate your play and be cautious.

btw.. do you play on absolute poker?

See my rant in Tales of Poker. Usually I've always played right through cold streaks and they go away. Recently, I have been getting crushed and have called it quits online for a while (at least until home tournament Saturday). Maybe I'll get back on the horse Thurs or Fri night.

I find that after a good run of winning sessions, or a few hundred hands with really high BB/100, I tend to get a little over confident and over aggressive with mid-grade hands. I find myself thinking something like "he couldnt have flopped that Ace or King, so my JJ must still be good, CAP IT!!" or "Of course my flush is gonna hit the river, maybe I should value raise this bet and raise in front of me"

OK those are a bit extreme, but you get the idea of where bets can leak out when you're running hot, and then they start gushing when the cards go cold. When I find myself running cold, I try to play tighter and raise less. This can cause you to miss a few smart bets, but it saves you alot more than you lose.
Is that guy still part of the forum??
