Anyone ever play exclusively the "premium hands" that is suggested in Rounders? They say Jacks or Better split and 9's or better wired. I'm just wondering if there is anyone that plays like this and what your results are? I know some will say I play mostly like that, but I 'm sure you play those lower wired pairs and ATo-JTo (which those hands are weak and should only be played from their correct positions, and not into a raise). Just curious..... I can't play this way b/c I love those suited connectors and there are alot of stupid players to take pots off. Anyone play this real tight strategy????

I had to go look ti up.
split comes from stud, it means your up card is paired with at least a jack.
wired means your pair is in the hole.

with holdem i would guess split means one of the two cards are on the board. a pocket pair is wired.

so, sounds to me like he'll see a flop with at least one face card. if at least a jack pairs, you're good to go.

If you play stud, it's probably a great starting hand selection. Almost applicable to holdem, but the concepts don't quite match up.

I believe 'split' refers to any two hole cards that aren't a pair.

No, its for 7CS. A wired pair is a concealed pair and a split pair is when your door card is paired with a hidden card.

I'd say I'm both tighter and looser than that, as I understand the interpretation listed above.

Split: As someone noted, it sounds like they're playing any face card preflop. I won't do that. Not many people here will.

Wired: I'll play any pocket pair. If I don't hit at the flop, the rest of the hand depends on my table and the action it gets. Obviously if I hold 88 and the highest offering from the board is a 7, I'm raising to get anyone with a low str draw out.
