I've been reading a lot of posts lately about reraising AA-TT AK and sometimes AQ preflop. I have really only been reraising with AA KK and sometimes QQ in the past. The last week I have been forcing myself to reraise with the above range and while it has certainly worked some (either getting preflop folds or a call and fold to cbet), the times that it hasn't gone like that, it gets confusing and expensive (expensive enough that I wonder if I am making anything off of the strategy). If I get called or reraised on a cbet, I figure I have pretty much represented a very strong hand (usually AA or KK) and my opponent doesn't care. I don't feel like I have the image of doing this a lot, so I've pretty much been thinking I am beat.

-As a note, reads on your opponents are very important in these situations and also, I play only SH games so my advice could be off here

1. Preflop a 3bet should be standard here but it should be bigger than what you made it. I would raise to probably around $7ish, but as played your flop cbet is sized fine and your fold is a good one.

2. Again, Id make a larger 3bet PF. As played you need to be calling this push and I would be happy to get it in here. Often times you will see a lone Ad and others you will see a worse K, you are good way too often here to fold.

If you are folding too often to postflop raises with hands like you have in the 2nd one then 3betting preflop could be costing you money, but that doesnt mean you shouldnt be doing it. AA-TT, AK is a pretty standard and fairly tight 3betting range preflop, stick with that for now and really work on figuring out when you are good or not. Once you are comfortable with that you can start adding to that range and being much more difficult to read.

As andy-akb wrote, re-raise more, to $7, and in hand 2, call the push. Also, only widen your re-raise range against players that are at least slightly laggy pre-flop. I'd say PFR% over 7 at minimum. Then widen it more and more the laggier they are. Against someone who's raising 15%+ of hands pre-flop or more I'm re-raising TT+, AQ+, AJs+, occasionally something worse.
