Hey guys.
I noticed that alot of people in trournaments and sng's will raise pre flop with 10, J or 10 Q or JQ purely for the fact to thin out the other players.
Is this wise as if say 3 fold 2 call then it goes to the flop that you can represent a big hand or fold if you get raised or ?
What do you suggest ?

a lot of players will do this with any paint they see or even if they just hold an ace preflop. this generally isn't a bright idea to do this unless the blinds are substantial and you have late position and a more than healthy chip stack. sometimes, if a table is widdled down to only 3-5 players and/or the bubble is approaching, this can help pick up some needed chips. for the most part, however, i'd recommend not paying attention to these opps you see playing this way. eventually players will become curious and call you down in a hand that you shouldn't be playing. there are plenty of other opportunities that will come with better cards that you should save your chips for.

gap rule/concept. If you dont know it go learn it then youll see why more players raiuse with QJ than call with it and why players calling poreflop with QJ are making a mistake.
