Ok I plan to start with a 25dollar bank roll(see my poor college kid thread)

I play a pretty tight game and understand when I make mistakes and stuff.

Questions:
Whats a ring game?
What would be the bets for me to play 5dollar max buy in? What would be the blinds for that?
Would I be able to play nay sit&Gos with that little of money?
Where would be the bets place for me to start.

Hi, without wanting to ignore your questions, read all of the stickies and FAQ's above your post in the forum list, and all of your questions will be answered in great depth. I wouldn't dream of playing a single game without reading all the sticky threads in the beginners forum.

Just to note though, I think sit and go's are the best place to start, but it's down to individual preference. And to answer your first question, a "ring game" is a 'normal' game, ie not a tournament - where players can come and go as they please and there is no start or end (in theory, as long as players keep coming to fill the empty seats).

So - best place to start, go read the sticky threads - just above your post in the forum message list.

TLR is an unknown quantity at this point
$25 is a very low bankroll to start with

Pokerstars offer 1+0.20 Sngs 45 players and 1.5+0.25 18 players turbo Sngs, those can both fit your bankroll

No, sorta embarrassing but I used to play diablo2 for a long time and built up a decent stock pile. Hopefully I can get at least 25(hoping upwards of 50) for it all on Ebay.

I havent played in a few months so its just money sitting around.
That way I could start out on pokerstars where I have been playing the most play money and they have the lowest level SnGs.

Drug dealer for a week could work tho

Lowest on stars is $5 + .50. Other sites have lower buyins eg. Royal Vegas Poker has $1 + .20 SnGs. Just incase you didn't know.

Cool. That's news for me.

The 45 man SNG's sounds like good practice, but with 45 people at the table, it might be tough to keep the money circulating (the goal is to only deposit $25, yes?).

Pacific has $2 SNG's with 10 players.
I understand Paradise also has $1 SNG's.

BTW $5 Ring Game buyin is for the .01/.02 blinds.

Have fun!
I'm a know-it-all.

No, really.

I have been playing some play money SnGs they are more fun than ring, I placed in the money on 1/3(bubbled a 45 person one) and came in 2nd on another(took a bad beat when I had the big stack and pushed him all in on the flop and he pulled a card on the river)

While this is good, it has nothing to do with how you will do in real money games. I went back a couple of times to play for play money after I started seeing success in real money; I'm convinced that by playing moderately close to a winning strategy in real money games, I could place ITM EVERY game.

I agree that you're likely to have a tough time on Stars with that low a buy-in. That said, it has been done. One of my friends built $50 to over $1k this summer (though he'd previously spent months studying on here and had busted out a few times prior).

The best site, in my opinion, to start playing with a limited bankroll is Ultimate Bet. They offer $2 buyin ring games (games at which money is on the line in every game with the same .01/.02 blinds that you see in higher buyin games) and $1+.1 SnGs (of single and multiple table varieties). Further, if you're interested in ring games, UB paying your bonus money after every sitting can be very helpful in starting to build a roll. I started in December at UB with $25.

I read in Davs guide that UB had some better SnG players, but would that not matter for 1+.1 games? And only apply to 10+ ones?

I think that the UB players are moderately better than the players at other sites at comparable stakes. If anything, that makes me more convinced that you should start at UB, where you can learn from "stronger" players for a significantly lower cost. For a deposit of $50, you could play 45 sit'n'go's at the UB $1+.1 level.

And yes, at any site playing the micro limits, you're going to be playing a lot of people who have no real clue what they are doing.
