hello all,
very glad that i found this site today, very informative.
i've read through a few threads, and learned quite a bit about online poker, but i still have a few questions.
so here's the story:
i'm getting bored of the play money tables and want to go for the real money.
so my brother suggested i go to www.pokersourceonline.com and get an account
through one of their promos
(through partypoker - i get 9000 points and he gets 2500, or something like that)
the only problem is, according to their terms of this promo:
"Only one account per person, per street address, and/or per computer/ip address"
my brother and i live at the same address, so i'm guessing this means
i can't get a partypoker account via this promo, right?
btw, currently he has a real money account with them and i have a play money account.
but, can i still get a new account through partypoker's own 'tell-a-friend'?
this way he gets $50 and i get $25?
or does partypoker simply not allow two real money accounts from the same address?
also, i've read in the threads here about people getting charged fees when trying to exchange from CDN funds to US.
(don't remember if it's a fee for transferring, or exchanging)
so here's what i'm thinking of doing:
(hope you Canadian online players can share your experience here.)
i'm with RoyalBank, and i'll open a US account. then buy some US funds
to put in there.
then i'll open a US account with Neteller, and transfer the US funds from
the account to Neteller, then to a newly created partypoker account.
are there any fees when transferring funds from
CDN account to US account?
US account to Neteller?
Neteller back to US account?
hope you guys can help
and thanks

Just use your checking account(i'm with pc) at neteller. When I deposited in party ($100) neteller automatically withdrew $108 and change from my account. they don't charge to convert to american, they just charge the standard banking fees for transfering money from your account to party.(It's like 3 bucks or something.) The only problem I've ever had with neteller is that it takes them 4 or 5 days to take the money out of your account and if you keep a tight reign on your funds you may forget its still to come out and use the money to pay other things, but you get the deposit in stars or party immediately after your account is confirmed.

Get a Neteller account in US dollars. That way the only fee you pay is when you withdraw to your bank account. Otherwise you get raped anytime you deposit or withdraw from a poker room.

thanks for responding guys,
i did a lot more reading around this forum after i posted.
and if i remember correctly, from some of the other posts i read,
isn't it free to transfer from a US bank account to a US neteller account
if i use ETF?
also, i thought it was free to deposit money from neteller>partypoker
or withdraw from partypoker>neteller
and isn't tranferring money from neteller>US bank account also free?
considering it's all in US funds, i shouldn't be charged that 1.9% fee
of exchanging from US to CDN funds right?
i thought it was all free as long as i don't do instacash or exchange from
US$ to CAN$ when transferring back to the bank account
i'm guessing the only time i should be 'paying' is if i don't get a
good rate when i exchange CAN$ to US$ when putting into the US account
or exchange US$ back to CAN$ when i want to withdraw out of the account
sorry if there's any confusion, i've read a lot of posts, so i could be
remembering it wrong.
thanks again
