Post subject: Question for the experienced poker players

Just a little backgroung info. I have been playing online poker for about 2 months. I have been playing primarily NL ring games and a few tourneys. I had a starting bankroll of $2000 and have increased it to about $2600. However, about 95% of that increase has come from bonuses. So, as you can see my poker game has not improved enough to be profitable on its own merits. I daily come to this forum and read as much as I can. I just received the book "Internet Texas Holdem"(which is a limit holdem book) and recently purchased Poker Tracker and I am importing all the hands I have (lost a good amount to a harddrive malfunction).
My question is: Do you beleive a beginning player should start with limit holdem to learn the game and to improve as a player?

welcome... i say to play whatever you find most interesting and profitale. Get Smal Stakes Holdem if you want to learn how to beat limit realy quickly.
If you are increasing your BR, you are doing well... keep learning and your game will start supporting itself.

Break even poker is better that can be said for most. A bonus is a bonus and still boosts that BR.
It seems to me like a $2K BR is a good start. Stick to lower limits at first even though technically you are rolled for maybe a higher limit.
Play which ever games you find most fun and comfortable. Limit is not "easier" than NL by any means.

I can't say this from experience but my take on it (from lots of reading here) is that NL is different enough from Limit that you should play what you want to play for the long run. If you learned Limit real well then you would have to adapt somewhat to NL so stick with what you want.
Break even is not losing. Keep at it.

I started off playing like 1000 hands of limit, and then i discovered NL SNGs and I never looked back. if you like NL then move to the SNGs.

I would start with limit hold em for sure! Please take it slow with that bankroll.
