heres my question...Did I overbet this pot, cuz I didnt realize it at first because I had a huge read on this player as being a maniac/loose huge calling station... and my read just happened to be right. But what if he had aa,kk,or qq and was just extreme slow playin it. Do you all recommend I NEVER OVER BET POT?

man, as soon as I read in your post that you got dealt pocket jacks I was thinking oh no not stupid fishhooks, and was wondering how you were gonna loose a huge pot with them! (mainly cos all my experiences with fishhooks stink!)

I wonder what that guy had???!!! I hope he wasnt calling that all in with eights full of fives, but most probably he had two overs and was hoping to catch something on the river, although only a psychotic maniac would do that I suppose. So I would say he had lower pocket pair.

but anyway to the question at hand... did you overbet the pot?
If I was in your position I would have done the exact same thing for a couple reasons; 1) your read that he's agg loose maniac kinda guy, and also 2) If he had pocket ladies, cowboys or bullets he probably would have reraised preflop (unless he's not the smartest player or he wants to slowplay em).

so personally I think you were justified in going all-in.
It's hard work. Gambling. Playing poker. Think about what it's like sitting at a poker table with people whose only goal is to cut your throat, take your money, and leave you out back talking to yourself about what went wrong inside.

If it's a real loose player, playing JJ this hard is fine becuase he might pay you off with A5 or any pocket pair 55 or greater. If he was a more solid player, I wouldn't play JJ to make a huge pot, I'd bet it like it was the best hand but I would be looking for a reason to believe otherwise.

Yes you overbet the pot.

The pot was about $13 and you bet $19.

Simple answer is, since $19>$13, you overbet the pot.

Was it a bad move? No, you did well and congrats on winning the hand.

I think you bet it right.

What could have happened? 1. Most likely, he folds and you take down the already decent sized pot. 2. In this case, since he is a maniac calling all-ins with Ax on a scary board, you take down a far far bigger pot. 3. He calls and turns over the other 8. Not likely enough to worry about. 4. He calls and turns over a higher pocket pair. In that case you spotted a leak in his game slow playing high PP, write it down and take advantage of it. (however since he is a known maniac, this is pretty much impossible).

Risk vs reward, when you think about these 4 possibilities, it is clear the expected reward for putting out that bet is higher than the risk of loss.
