Villain is 40/13 over 72 hands.

I have yet to see him 3 bet. The widdest range I can come up with is

AK,QQ+

I have 40% equity against this range. I think raising here is dumb. Calling is fine.

I know it looks like I messed this hand up. But I am getting better at realizing when I am likely beat.

The reason my raise on flop is bad is because he rarely calls it with AK and always calls it with kk+, thus I just took out anything out of his range I beat.

I am debating even posting this. Since this looks like such a std flop call and decide on turn. Arg.

rpm has a spectacular aura aboutrpm has a spectacular aura about
if his range is QQ+,AK your decision here pretty much comes down to how you think he plays AK in my opinion. AK is just over half his range pre with 16 combos. if he cbets it on this board 100% then calling the flop is fine, you have 46% equity against his cbetting range. i doubt most villains are going to two barrel unimproved AK on the turn OOP into a seemingly strong range so i think the best play here is to smooth, and fold if he bets the turn. raising the flop, i think, is only really beneficial if you want to get all-in versus his stacking-off range. as you mentioned, he probably folds AK and shoves the rest - costing you your call+raise amount. smoothing costs you your flop call, and (if we take the assumption he doesn't go mad with AK), lets you play the turn far more optimally.

Seems like if you open for 3x or even 2.5x instead of 4x, you have more room to re-raise pre-flop. If he comes over the top, folding saves you money compared to the line you took in this particular instance, although that won't always happen.

What I think is as played, any read off the re-raise has gone out the window. now it's a 50% chance he's bluffing semi/bluffing or not. Depending if he's done this on several other hands to fold out weak hands and he only has best or second best pair would change things greatly. You say you haven't seen him 3bet, but that doesn't mean he doesn't think his A10 is best. What have his postflop plays been like? Does he like to continue when calling a preflop raise even out of position?
If he's putting you on a range of {A2+, 22+, K10+} he very well may just be pushing you out of the pot. It depends alot on what your table image has been aswell. Have you been raising alot preflop with loose hands? Have you been following through with continuation bets? Has he been sitting there watching you and knows that you raise with KQo, or Axo? Tuff spot, and proof that QQ and JJ are two of the hardest hands to play sometimes.
My play, I'd have called the $4, as I'm not looking to go all-in just yet. Turn card could bring a world of difference, and play would be based on the next action.

if you think his range is so strong preflop then id call the flop as you have position...
Its a fairly wa/wb situation so raising seems bad

Because he's retarded and calling down with worse hands. That said, he's retarded enough that I can't put the rest in at 3.5 to 1 fast enough! With $100 behind this hand starts to become interesting. With these stacks you have a good hand and he's bad so you just go with it and are happy not to have a lot of money behind.
