Got into a tight bind.... want to know how you would have played it.... and what I should have done different... Villian is 15/4 on 55 Reads.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.02 BB (9 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

UTG+1 ($0.86)
MP1 ($0.53)
MP2 ($1.98)
MP3 ($3)
Hero (CO) ($3.30)
Button ($2.39)
SB ($1.98)
villain (BB) ($3.10)
UTG ($5.93)

Preflop: Hero is CO with ,
UTG calls $0.02, UTG+1 calls $0.02, MP1 calls $0.02, 2 folds, Hero calls $0.02, Button calls $0.02, SB calls $0.01, villain checks

Flop: ($0.14) , , (7 players)
SB checks, villain bets $0.14, UTG calls $0.14, 2 folds, Hero raises to $0.28, 2 folds, Villian raises to $3.08 (All-In), 1 fold, Hero folds

Total pot: $0.84 | Rake: $0

Results:
villain didn't show
Outcome: villain won $0.84

I put Villen on a range of J10 or JJ. Possible A10 or K10, but judging by his numbers, those two seem very unlikely, although he was on the blind, so that could add pocket pairs.... but he wouldn't bet so heavy with only 2 pair. According to replay by Poker Tracker, I was 93% favorite..... what would you have done?

edit: btw villain is bb so 15/4 isnt that relevant other than telling us he sucks and can have 210 to a10 but is probably a slowplaying moron since these guys always are. again, snap.

He checked his option in the big blind and might suck hard enough to think T2o is the nuts here.

We generally refer to pocket pairs that make three of a kind as a set and non-pocket pairs that make three of a kind as trips to differentiate the two. So it might be useful for you to edit your title to Q10 flops trips instead of a set.

As for the hand, you should reference this thread which explains in detail how to make this super common calculation (plus it's easy too): http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...in-t87954.html

Finally, that 93% shown in PT3 is your equity against a random hand. :]

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

I do have poker stove, and I'm working on learning it the best I can. Need to read a few more articles on it. But if you don't understand how to use the software, you might make an error, that's why I'm asking for a bit of advice, this way I know that if I'm coming up with the same thing on poker stove, then I must be learning something :P lol.

Looking back, I figure I probably should have made the call, but hind sight is 20/20.... I'll just remember it next time I need to make the same decision.

Raise or fold preflop. I limp maybe 3 times per 10k hands. Its a bad habit to get into.

Changed it... ment decision, lol.

I probably should break the limp habit.... I've broken it more here lately thou.... I used to limp a lot... now if I decide to go in, I instantly start off with a raise. (3-4XBB + 1-2BB per limp) there's a few marginal hands depending on how the table has been playing that I'll limp. Trying to break that habit.... doing good... used to limp 80% or so... now I'm down to 20......25%? If that....

I can tell OP didn't study the link I offered in detail or he would have posted his own analysis by now and resolved the situation.

raise preflop though... bump it or dump it...

raise more on the flop than just a min raise... why give something like KQ a chance to draw out on you?...
