I’ve had this question bouncing around my head for the past few weeks and I
figured I would call upon the masses to help me answer it.
If we take the top 100 poker players in the world, what would be the
tournament entered/tournaments won percentage? Also what would be the tournament
entered/ended in the money percentage as well.
I suspect the won percentage is way down around 5% or lower. I’m sure placing
in the money is much higher although I don’t know and have never heard this
discussed before. Any help would be appreciated.

most people would agree you need a ton of skill, luck, and cards to win these big tournaments. Some of the best players in the world bust out regularly.

Whathisname, the guy they call Mike the Mouth, is a solid player but hasn't done well in a couple years now. (Pretty much any time you see him on TV, he complains about it.) If you saw how he exited the WSOP, you know how much luck factors into it. You can be a great player, maybe the greatest there is, and still place out of the money over & over because of a bad break here and there.

What exactly is the question?
If you take 100 top pros and do what with them?

I think what the OP is suggesting is, first, take the top 100 tournament poker players in the world (ranked by whatever metric). Second, ask each of them how many tourneys they entered (E), how many tourneys they won (W) and how many tourneys they placed in the money(M). Third, take the sum of all 100 players wins (sigma W), and divide by the total tourneys they entered (sigma E). This number, sigma M/sigma E, represents the average tournament win rate given that person is one of the top 100 in the world. Repeat for sigma M/sigma E to find out the average ITM rate for a top 100 tournament player. It would also be interesting to find the variance of this group -- how different are the top 10 tourney players in win and ITM rate from the 90-100th players, e.g.
