Howdy.

Quick question, as I'm completely new to the game.

What exactly IS a $2NL table? I know it's a COMPLETELY foolish question, but I'm brand new, and I need to learn.

I assume that refers to the max buy-in? Is the max buy-in always 100x BB?

Also, asssuming initial bankroll is fairly negotiable, where would you suggest a player start? If you can fund $10NL -- should you go ahead and begin there? Or, just start with the $2NL tables no matter what?

I'm definitely clueless, but happy to have found a good resource.

Best,
EW

It does indeed refer to the max buyin of the table.

The max buyin is usually 100 big blinds (a $2NL table typically has blinds of 1 cent and 2 cents).

You should always start at whatever your bakroll can very safely fund, no sense in dropping limits when you can learn better and make more money at a higher place that you bankroll can still afford. However, playing where you are comfortable is yet more important, so if you don't feel comfortable playing $10NL, stick to $2NL.

Yeah, it refers to max buyin. Max buyin is almost always 100x BB in no limit. There is one exception I know of. On Stars the lowest table is 5NL. The blinds are .01/.02 so that means you get 250x BB, good for beginners.
