Hello everyone,
I am pretty much new to the online poker, and I am interested in setting up a private tournament, I think that would be a great idea, just invite some friend, family members, etc.
Well, what i would like to know from you guys is what are you feelings on private tournaments, is it really fun, do you feel it is exiting, the same as playing in a table with friends???
Where did you guys go to play in private? How did you set it up, was it really complicated?
Please let me know your thought on this subject.
Thanks in advance for everyones thoughts on this.

I remember emailing Pokerstars about this a while ago, and they told me that you need either 1500 or 2000 FPPs (one of the two, I don't remember which) to set up your own private tourney.

if you're doing it live, then make sure you got chips and are playin with fun guys you trust at someone house (unless you wanna rent a table at a casino or sth)
these things are a lot of fun, I got a friend with chips at school and sometimes he invites a bunch of friends over and we play SnG's, noone's really serious about it though, everyone more than willing to lose 10 bucks to have a bunch of fun

Thanks guys for the replies.
I am still confused though, where is the best place to play online with friends?
I don't have any points, and I don't really want to play with "strangers", I like to keep playing with my old budies, but without having to have an amount of points to be able to open a table.

Also, what do you mean by live? Having everyone at one place with their osn computers? Sorry, I am dumb like that
And yes, we are not serious about the game, just you know, to relax and be able to interact with my old friends.
Also, where do you think I should go to play, a poker site that I can trust and won't make our game hell???
Thanks again, and please if anyone has anything to share lets hear it.

I've never setup a Private Tournament online, and don't even know how you go about doing that. But there will probably be some sort of restriction to every site you try it on (points, time joined, BR amount, or something).
May I ask why you aren't comfortable playing against strangers? No offense, but generally people play poker to make money (some play for fun, but making money is fun so why not do both?). I'm comfortable taking both a strangers money as well as a friend (family member, girlfriend, grandmother). But if it's something because of not trusting the site, then gravitate towards the more popular sites (PokersStars, Full Tilt, etc), because they have more to worry about than jacking your $10 bucks.
And what he meant by live is not everyone together at a house on their computers. He meant everyone togther at a poker table, with real cards, and real chips, etc. We refer to poker on the computer as online poker, and poker at a casino, house, or wherever you use real cards, etc, and can see your opponents as "live" poker or "Brick and Mortar".

You can set up Private Tourneys at Poker stars, you do need 1500 fpp's.
If you cant do it that way, just sit down quickly with all your friends at a table that is empty, if someone sits down that you dont want to play with, you can ask them to leave. If they dont leave then you and your friends can sit out, and I'm sure eventually he will leave.
