I have a question, and a bet riding on it. Some one please help. Are the chances of getting pocket aces and any other pocket pair the same? I say yes because there are 4 of every card....correct? My friend says the odds are different. Please someone tell me where I can prove this.

thanks

The odds of being dealt AA isn't the same as being dealt *any* pair. Being dealt AA has the same odds as being dealt pocket 5's or any specific pair, but not just a pair in general. Being dealt AA is 220:1, being dealt a pair is about 16:1.

If you look down and see 88 and say whats the odds of being deals 88, its 220:1.

If you look down and see 88 and say whats the odds of being dealt a pair, its 16:1.

You guys may both be correct depending upon if there is a misunderstand about what exactly you are taking about.
