Especially because there's a flush draw out there, bet 3/4 the pot on the flop.

I agree. That straight was hard to see coming but your flop bet gave anyone holding spades great odds to call.

Even if everyone folds to a 3/4 pot sized flop bet, as they say, better to win a small pot than lose a big one.
