hi guys,
i got pt with a database of 25000 hands in it.

i want to judge my improvement (or not) over the next 25k hands by resetting my stats. i dont know how to do this

obviously i could make another database, but i dont want to lose all the information i have on other players.

anyone know if this is possible?

dont make a new database. just go to the Preferences tab and set it to only include hands played from today on.

I make a new database each month and in PAHUD I just set it to use all of the databases.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

I'm a bit different - I keep a new database for each site I play on, but I agree that using the preferences tab to analyze is best. Also see the "monthly summary stats." I believe it's under the Misc tab and includes all levels and sites broken down by month, together with BB/100 winrates for each (and some other stats, like VP$P) and overall win rate BB/100 for the month.

The only problem with PT is that when the database becomes large (say, 100k hands ++), it can move slowly, especially if you have an older computer (like me) and let it use the Microsoft Access database architecture rather than SQL. Speed (I believe) is one of the main reasons Pat is redesigning and creating PT3.

Eventually you'll probably have multiple databases that you use and manage, but you probably won't need that except maybe when you've hit 150k to 200k hands in the database imo. I'm waiting to make a new database for my main site until I hear more about PT3, hopefully in the next month or two we'll have a release date and some info about compatibility with PT2 (I'm probably optimistic, though, it may be longer).

Good luck at the tables.

I would just go to the preferences tab and adjust the dates
