For someone seriously trying to improve on their game?
I just started playing almost a month and half ago (yeah i'm a noob) but I love the game, it excites me, i have read sveral books, and over the last couple weeks, have seen markable improvement
So is it worth $55?

It's worth hundreds of $$$. Don't tell them. But don't take my word for it, watch how many posts you get telling you the same.

yes, the value i would place on poker tracker cant be expressed in a monetary form. New or expierienced player, poker tracker will help you. Best $55 i ever spent.
Side note: In my experience, the service you will receive from pat is second to none. He's looked after me well, and i really thought he'd be pissed at me now, with the amount of times i've had to reinstall and therefore had to ask for a new reg code.
Also the fact that he'll let you do a poker account to poker account transfer helps to, for some anyway. Since I bought it when i was 16 i didnt have alot of other options. Its tough to get a credit card or pay pal account at that age (not that i wanted one anyway).. a quick look at his sight just now suggests he may not do that anymore though, which is unfortunate. Alas, the point is the program is worth the price.

In so many ways has it helped my game and it will continue to...
As for customer service? I reinstall fairly often, and everytime I email him for the new key he answers back in just a short time. Not to mention their forums. If you are serious about your game, get it...

Its a requirement. You will purchase poker tracker, or you will not make serious money, if any at all.

You could probably live without it if you played only tourneys. If you play cash, get it ASAP.

9thed - also get gametime+ as a free HUD and then you can always graduate to PAHUD when you are comfortable with it.

if you truly want to get "better" at poker...dont get it.
but if you want to get better FASTER, get it. but, you need to learn it's limitations.
-it is invaluale at spotting leaks, but you can go overboard with individual stats.
-it will help you "put villains on a 'range' of hands quickly" due to tendencies, but cannot replace "individual reads."
-if you multi-table (some say you are doing a disservice to your game by multi-tabling), it helps identify good tables/seats, but doesnt help you adapt to table conditions w/o deliberately focusing on adaptation.
and so on...
in short, get the thing. you will improve faster, but need to learn it's not the software that improves your game...
its YOU paying attention to factors that you could not "graph" on paper by yourself.

who says this? IMO, you are doing a disservice to your wallet by not multi-tabling.

i hear all the time, here in FTR especially, that if you mulit-table, you are not helping your post-flop game improve...you are only increasing your win-rate. and your skills, also, diminish with each additional table you open. you overall $$/hr rate may increase, but your ability to "study" and your win-rate in PTBB/100 decrease because of the inability to pay attention to ALL the tables.
i didnt say i agreed with it, i just said "some say..." i DO agree with the science behind it, but i feel, like you bode, that if you increase the money by opening an additional table...BY ALL MEANS!
i am not playing poker to sit in with Mike the Mouth, and trap him with some great move i learned by experience and hours of study. i am here to COLLECT STUPID FISHIES.

I don't think it's a big deal
PokerSourceOnline you can get PokerTracker
You can get PokerOffice free through their website
Either of these may be hard to pull off if you're a U.S. player because of difficulties transferring monies.

i dont think he is actually saying he doesnt care about getting better. IMO its best to find a balance that lets you learn and progress as a play while also making the most $/hr. For me, this is anywhere between 4 and 6 tables depending on the software im using. I can 8 table fine, but i feel this is when i become TOO mechanical and am not playing optimally.

I've only had Pokertracker and Pahud a week. Its still confusing the crap out of me but I am beginning to love it. Just teh ability to easily review your tournament and see teh big hands played, especially ones you lost your money on, and try to decide why you lost, if and how you could have played the hand better. For this reason alone I think it is worth it. Only takes a few mins to skim back through and pick the big pots out.
I also noticed I 'donated' a total of 15k of chips to the person who got HU with me over the tournament. (9man $5 sng normal speed). If i cant review that and find a leak I probably shouldnt be playing at all. Still adjusting to Pokerstars tho.

get pokertracker.
Also, dont get it from a promotion. Most of those promotions are a choice between $100 of bonus money or $55 of software. Get the money and use some of it to buy poker tracker.

Ok rather than start up a new topic about PT I thought I'd post here.
I have been using Poker Edge for about 4 or 5 months now and to be honest, I wouldn't even consider online play without it. But I've read more and more about PT and thought it must be very good, so I have dowloaded a trial version along with handgrabber.
The stats look mariginally confusing as I'm familiar with VPIP, PF raise etc but what I really want to know is how to get the best out of PT. I mean, is it REALLY that much better than Poker Edge?
I must say I can't believe how in depth PT is, 90% of the stuff on there I have no idea how to use, or how to implement it in my game.
In a nutshell, what are the most important things/stats I should be looking at here? I play mostly NLHE, cash games at low stakes. We can skim over the VPIP, PF raise ect as I understand that.
Muchos gracias in advance...

There are sites that allow Americain players, just not all obviously. Also, you're only eligible to play at a site where you dont already have an account. Enjoy!

A friend of mine who tried to get the free money from PSO told me it was crazy. They wanted him to fax a bunch of personal stuff to them that they easily could have used to steal his identity (Not saying they did). He e-mailed them and said "Hey look, if you're serious about getting me started and getting me free money to a poker room, then let's do it. But I am not faxing you anything you could use to steal my identity."
They basically told him F@CK OFF.
I would like to take advantage of PSO but having been the victim of identity theft once (unrelated to poker) I am not giving someone the tools to rip me off, especially for just $100. Did my friend just get unlucky, or do they ask everybody to fax them this stuff? Just trying to find out whether to try it or save myself the trouble.
