Anyone wanna share their poker time line. When did you start playing? What were the stakes? How long until you moved up? Where are you now? Amateur or playing to pay the bills (what i would consider PRO)? How did you devolop your game (as in just play play play or reading literature , or BOTH) ..

Any feedback would be interesting....

Started just less than a year ago when I turned 18 (UK), and deposited about $80 on Pacific picking up a bonus too.

Came out with $650 after playing way above my roll after about 3 weeks. (I knew nothing about bankroll management but luckily knew stud pretty well from my dad and destroyed the 2/4 tables ona hotstreak)

After this I deposited a couple more times at stars ($50) and lost my roll twice after building it to over a $1000 twice. Again I was under rolled and variance inevitably hit me in the face.

I then discovered this site about 7 months ago and started playing properly, both stud ring and sit and gos. Worked an original $100 into $5000 with help from a bad beat jackpot bonus over at pacific and a lot of bonus whoring casinos too.

Withdraw all of it to help with univeristy costs and now I've recently started again, working my way up to $1000 and as can be seen in my operation signature, I'm aiming for $10000 in roughly two semesters of heavy play.

Currently playing the 16 turbos and 20 regulars on stars, along with 1/2 stud when I'm at work and the odd MTT that takes my fancy.

I started playing with friends for 10 bucks about 3-4 years ago and started playing online last summer. I bought in for like 200 on paradise last summer, ran it up to 3k before eventually blowing some and stopping for the school year with 1k profit. I started again this summer with a deposit of 250 into Full Tilt and worked my way up from the 25nl tables to now where im taking shots at 200nl with a BR of around 5k.

Im an amateur but this is also my only source of income as i quit my 10 bucks an hour job. My game developed from reading a lot of poker books early on, reading and taking in the advice on this site, and playing thousands of hands. After getting a general feel for a winning strategy, the hardest part for me was staying focused and disciplined every time i play. Even now when i win a big pot at 200nl i start looking for a reason to stop up for the day. BR management is also of utmost importance for a new player which falls under discipline but cant be emphasized enough.
ndultimate.
