I'm embarassed to admit this but I have no idea what the term "donk" means. Can someone educate me? Or direct me to a forum where terminology is explained please.

Bad player. Short for donkey. There's also the term donk bet, which means a poor player who calls a raise pre-flop and then bets out on the flop - this seems a slightly unfair term to me but I don't make the rules

The bettor doesn't have to be poor for it to be a donk bet. Also, one can donk bet other streets (i.e. check-call flop - lead turn).

Ok, so generally used as a noun, as in "the guy in the CO seat is a donk" it is a negative. But as a verb, "I hit the nut flush on the turn but I knew my opponent would fold to a bet so I checked the turn and donked the river" it can be smart. As an adjective I suppose it could go either way with the +EV to the negative connotation.

I think I get it now. Thanks all

A donk bet does not necessarily have to be on the flop. It is any bet that looks peculiar. A check/call on the turn then a minbet on the river.

In essence the donk bet is the opposite of a continuation bet - it breaks with the "expected" aggression pattern.

Heh - a learning experience for me. Also I often make donk bets (on the flop mainly) if I think my oppo has a non-premium hand and probably hasn't hit.
