daven will become famous soon enough
ok, i'm trying to figure out what i want from poker.

I enjoy it most of the time. I can make a salary equivalent from it. But....

How important do you think goal-setting in poker is? starts out easy, make my first $1000, $5k, etc... but then?
Right now I am struggling to decide what my poker aspirations are.
What are yours?

Make one hundred billion dollars imo.

Seriously though monetary goal r bad. Learn HU or 6 max or something. Play less tables and focus on getting a sexier win rate.

Poker Orifice is an unknown quantity at this point
Good question.
I was out with a friend for breakfast this morning and he asked me the very same question.
I've been playing recreationally for awhile now online and some live tourneys & sng's too, mostly micro stuff but with a few ok online MTT cashes and a few live tourney ones too (just small stuff mostly).

My friend saw a tourney on TV last night that I had visited last year - the BCPC (B.C. Poker Championships which Daniel Negreanu won, $2,500 buyin, great structure comparable to WSOP events and attracts alot of popular pros). He asked me, "So, are you going to enter it next year?" Unsure I responded, "Ah... I dunno..."
He says, "Why not make it a goal?"
You see, last year when I went there to watch it, the reason for going was because my g/f won a chance to play Gavin Smith HeadsUp for $500. At the same time I won a SNG with Brad Booth, Bryan Devnoshire, Maria HO, Dennis Phillips, Gavin, Tiffany Michelle and a few others. I won $1,000 & and an all-expense paid trip to the casino there in the Penthouse suite. Hmm.. maybe a perfect time to use my free 3-day weekend?
So... that's my goal. In the meantime my plan is to be a reg. in the $50+ buyin MTTs on Fulltilt.
GL on the tables!

I agree with "sexier winrate"
well, in terms of HU I would agree if it's not stars because stars is terribad for HU
