    Default Poker Advice

what is the best poker advice you received and/or best poker advice you have given?

    here's my share:

Pick the right game for your skill level

there are people that jump into a $5/10 game after winning a huge bunch of money at $2/4. they're too excited they get carried away thinking that they already handle high stakes. what they do not understand is that as the stakes rises, so does the average skill level of the players.
how can you face the problem if the problem is your face?

    Two things come to mind:

"People who win the most pots, lose the most money".

"Losing the minimum on your losing hands is every bit as important as maximizing your wins on your winning hands."

Soupie's article on mtt strategy in it's entirety when I was starting out. Tommy Angelo's article about reciprocality and the old Bugs articles on donkr also changed the way that I think about the game. I doubt there will ever be a day when Baluga Whale Theorem doesn't hold at the micros too.

Focus on making the best possible decisions and not worrying about results.

The best advice that we can give to a poker player is:

    - do not be your main opponent at the tables.
