Are you all able to play good poker somewhere else than your regular set up?
I've been playing poker in college for about 1-1/2 years. When I'm at college in my room I can play decent (read: winning at microstakes), but everytime I have come back home for any breaks I just lose money. I've been home for 2 days and already lost 5 buy-ins. It seems like it is varience, but knowing that I am bad, I usually think I play bad.
I'm thinking about moving down to 2NL if I play at home, but it just seems shitty that the month that I have nothing to do I play poker poorly (read: losing at microstakes).
Does anyone else play poker in different spots any differently (or seem to have worse varience)?

you do anything different in college with respect to table selection?
also, alot depends on the players your up against. you may beat a certain stake because the players are weaker somedays.
variance definitely is a consideration as well.

99% of the time, I play on my laptop, sitting on the couch with the laptop on the table. I think I have a loosing record when I play on my stomach or back that other 1% of the time.
It doesn't help when people are watching me over my shoulder. I always loose when that happens too.

Well, from experince, there are many things that factor in when playing online. What time of day your playing, sitting on the couch or in your room. If anyone else is home. The biggest reason, is because of distractions. When other people are watching most people tend to play more hands.
A simple rule that I've made is play under the same conditions (Unless your always losing). FInd what works best, and stick to it.
Good luck at the tables.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.
