Lol weird topic just wondering if anyone has had positive or negative results playing under the influence. If so what were you on?
My 2.50 I won on the freeroll MTT for Carbon got donked off last night when i came home after drinking a little and took some anxiety medication (xanex) wasnt off my rocker or nothing , just a lil intoxicated.
Was playing micro like .04/.08 blinds , up like a dollar, and got JJ , no raises too me , raise a nice pf raise 2 callers. Flop comes rag rag rag...so i bet in a pot size raise and get raised a dollar.....automatically went all in. He hadQQ , i guess mainly it stops me from thinking deeper about whats going on if im intoxicated. I never drink when i play at the casino and usually only have a few beers during home games.
Guess if i was sober i might of folded to his dollar raise under the impression he called with a small pp and hit a set. Really don't think i could of put him on QQ. Ehhh it was only 2.50 so im not discouraged or anything just felt like posting a new topic.
I've had way worse swings playing drunk at home games....start out good , take almost everyones money , up 100 or more. , than few hours later and a pint and a half later i start playing like a real maniac. Thats why i vouch to not drink at all while playing because one beer will usually lead to 12.
On another tip , being off the white (mike the mouth's favorite) i played quite good at my home game. No one could have a telll because i was practically so high i was shaking and sweating regardless of what i had. I seemed to get a lot more action and came out well over 100 profit that time.
Anyone watch PAD? Season one , the episodes with ivey , tony g , hellmuth , matasuw and i forget the others , you can tell the mouth is higher than a kite off coke. He's constantly gritting his teeth and twitching with his face. It was hilarious watching it.

As long as i stay focused I can play pretty well up to a quite high level of drunkenness.
(I am talking tipsy, not falling over and throwing up in my shoes here!)

What seasider said. Trouble is, you have no guarantee you WILL be able to remain focused, that's the problem.

i used to shoot stick quite a bit, and found a groove everytime that 3rd brew hit me belly. but, after 6, it was back to the rail. back then, had a decent tolerance, but for some reason, those were the magic numbers.
i assume it may be the same with poker.
hmmmmm, i feel an experiment coming on soon.

LHE is a game where your skill keeps you breakeven until you hit your rush of random BS.
Nothing beats flopping quads while dropping a duece!

Heh, I agree. If I go bowling, I need a pint and a half to reach my peak skill level, then from 2 pints on it rapidly falls away and after 3 pints I am probably 50 points less competent.

Everytime I play live, whether home or in a Casino, I have 2 shots o' scotch about 10 minutes before sitting down. No more, no less. I feel that it obscures any tells I may have and calms me down. After the first hour or so it wears off, but by then I'm not nervous anymore anyway. Works for me. btw I never drink when playing online.

Maby someone elses, who maby was a girl, who maby I was going out with.
Who says romance is dead!
I didn't actually ask her if she fancied a few friendly hands at the time, so I am really kind of guessing. Perhaps a field test this Friday...

I have been very good at not playing cash games drunk.
However I went through a phase of playing play money SnG's after big nights out, won 5 in a row despite being barely able to type (had to use the slider bar more than I normally do). Pointless exercise really.
