I want to know your thoughts on playing online and live poker with a significant other. My gf used to hate poker and thought it was some stupid fad. Then she played it once and thought it was understandable. I try to play everyday for a couple of hours but she always complains that when I am not playing, I am reading, and when I am not doing those I am watching. I just want to become a profitable player, and I am only 20 so how do you deal with this when you are married or have kids? I try to play while she is working or when she is sleeping but then she wanted to sleep with me too so yeah. Odd I know but just wanted to start a discussion. No, I will not dump her lol.

Wife hates me, hates poker and did I mention hates me. I have to play now at 9 or 10 at night when the little guy goes to bed till around midnight during the week. If I don't, I miss out. I'm up at 5:30 a.m. so it's painful to say the least. if I ever get to a point of making a decent rate and making a withdrawl or two, all will be forgotten. Never should have made promises of riches before getting involved and understanding what I was up against.

just sit down and discuss what hours/when you can play.. 1.5-2 hrs a night in 45min to 1 hr intervals should be enough for you to play profitably. just keep adding tables as you feel comfortable..
if i play too long i lose my initial few stacks i won and even out to zero after 2-3 hrs.. if i stop at 1hr im usually up 1-3 stacks.
oh yeah lay down with her and help her fall asleep then u can get up and play for another hour or so.

im going to be dropping from 40-90k hands per month to 20k when i eventually get back to poker.
My agrement with my g/f is that i can get a 90min session in every nite, pwn all day saturday while shes working and play on sinday morning. Ill be working the rest of the time  (i think anyways lol) so thats me limited.
If you improve quickly, a new pair of shoes will always bag a few more hours on a saturday night
