Just going to keep it general, playing a .05/.10NL table, I raise first to .40 first with two callers, the pot is 1.20. The flop is 4-7-J of diamonds and I have first shot. I had K-K so I raised to $1; one folded and one called. Next card was a2 of hearts, I checked and got an all-in rasie of around $5. I folded.

In that situation, should I have just checked post-flop?

you were in a bad position - literally. And you got bluffed out of the pot. The other guy had maybe the Ace of Diamonds.

Here's why I say this.

First, I'm assuming you didn't have the K of diamonds. If you did then you shouldn't have folded regardless.

OK, 2 callers then what are the chances one has diamond/diamond - not great. 5 callers then maybe one has it.

Next what are you going to be called with - at this level alot. So we can't read anythign into that.

Finally, if the guy hit his flush and wanted to go all in why didn't he raise you on the flop when you bet out for $1? You see, the nut flush player is going to min raise you on the flop here. He didn't. He WANTED to see the next card. Which means he either had top pair and thought his Jack was maybe good (like you were semibluffing) - or he was hoping to hit another diamond.

He didn't hit the diamond (or figured you didn't hit it). Either way, you went soft and didn't bet again. He pushed (which is why I think he had the A of diamonds) it's a semi-bluff. You fold. Hand done.

What should you have done? In early position with 2 callers you have do decide on the flop whether one of them has the flush. If you say no, then PLAY IT LIKE THEY DIDN'T MAKE IT. But play it like another diamond is instant death.

He could have had the flush. I don't know. But if so then why not try to get you to put more money in the pot with a value bet on the turn? Why push there. You showed weakness, he could have tried to bring you along with a smaller bet. He didn't he said "FOLD FOLD FOLD". No one with the nuts does that (generally).

The only other way he makes this move is if he did hit the flush but it was weak - like 89d or something - and put YOU ON AK with a diamond. Then he would want to end the hand, but you would have called him if that was the case. I don't know you.... But most people would call there with 2 overcards, and a nut flush draw. So I'm assuming you would too. I'm not saying it's the call to make. But most people will make it.

It's player specific. I make the call against aggressive opponents, and I fold to less active ones. This is enough of a distinction to make the calls profitable.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.
