So, I'm a college student currently and am not employed. I have no real big bills to pay aside from my phone, however I am considering depositing about $400 into FullTilt poker and trying my luck there. My goal is to bring in some extra spending money, I would be happy just making $50 a day or something like that, maybe $250 a week. What I'm asking is do you guys think this is even possible or realistic? I consider myself to be an avg player, Ive always just played in live casinos at the 1/2nl but always just for fun and never solely to bring in income. I was thinking of maybe 4 tabling the .15/.25nl but I have no idea if these stakes are too high?? What would you guys reccomend for my situation/goals? Full ring or 6 max? Ive also seen a lot of guys on these forums talking about MSNL or CTS... are these free sites for discussion and help? and if so what are the actual links to them?
I would appreciate if you guys could give me any and all advice that you have for me, I'm open to pretty much anything. So if you could, or have the time please feel free to post. Thanks a ton guys

If you have only played live then you will want to test your skills against online players before risking any real $. Deposit all you want but test your skills at the lowest levels on the site before trying to win real $. Your proposed win rate is possible if you are up to the task but you will find online much tougher than live play.
Stakes: Playing $0.10/$0.25 NL

while you are asking us to take time to help you, it may have already been done FOR you.

look in the "stickies" here in the beginners forum. read most of them, especially anything on "bankroll management."

one of our "respected" posters, bigspenda73 for the name drop, has found FTP to be tougher than other sites he has played on.

think twice, and do your research, before putting money anywhere.

look for bonuses... they help you build a bankroll/income while you win, and pad your losses if you lose a little.

look for rakeback... wouldnt it be nice to get back some of the "rake" you pay to the house? you can do that, too. again, it helps income and padding of losses.

before you ruin your chances for both at FTP, do your research. you may find another place to be a bit more advantageous until you have the bankroll to "max out" the FTP bonus offer, which takes a large sum, or the experience to take on some of the tougher 10NL players with a piddle-squat rakeback.

just my .02

Will do, i'll take more time to research some things before i begin. I wasnt too familiar with any other sites that make it so easy to deposit money other than ftp. I also wasnt aware that i could not get rakeback from ftp either. Rakeback is something I would definately want to take advantage of... Do you guys have any suggestions off hand for a solid site that is easy to use and can provide a good rakeback system for me? Thanks again

From one casino player to another, purchase Poker Tracker and actually figure out how to use the thing. I haven't made much use of it myself, but I've seen what it can do in the hands of other people, and it's a pretty sick piece of software.

i know its easy to just ask the question and let someone spit out the info to you, but YOU need to do some searching, too.

where to begin? on FTR's homepage...right hand side. theres a whole list of "US friendly" sites. start there.

FTR makes it pretty easy. use the site for more than a forum, and you'll fall in love with it just like the rest of us have.

While I agree, I didn't know about Rednines, Pokerhost, Eurolinx or IronDuke and it wasn't on the front page either. Some of the promotional codes on the front page aren't working either, like the one for Player'sOnly. Maybe the networks/skins and promotions need some updating? Carbon Poker and Golden Riviera alone are shelling out some HUGE bonuses compared to what they were giving away originally.
