i'm having problems with this,
say i've got QJ in one of the blinds with 2-3 limpers (6-max), i raise, get 2 callers, flop is trash, i c-bet, get two calls again, check the turn (assuming no help there) and fold to any bets. even if i help on the turn and bet again, i still don't know where i'm at when they call. i hate playing OOP. should i limp/check these hands and hope for a good flop? raise p/f, c-bet, and fire a second barrel on the turn with basically nothing and hope to win right there? probably just depends on who you're playing with, provided you have some reads. but in general, how do you play this?

with QJ I would jsut check and see a flop, but it also depends on your table image, size of raise, reads on players, etc...

Obviously its good to raise a wide range for balance, but In general I like to take a flop here. Raising just bloats a pot where you are going to be out of position with a marginal hand. When people are going to call loose, I tend to only raise strong hands out of the blinds.

I guess I'm not sure why you would want to raise QJ type hands oop. I understand that if weak players have limped you may throw a raise out there from the blinds to get them to fold or take it down on the flop. But, if the players that you are playing against are terrible loose calling stations, guess what, they're not folding. No reason to make plays against those that are not capable of being bluffed.
If you were in position say on the BU with this hand against same loose calling players, then you have a better situation.

oop i would prob just call/check but if your gonna raise, BBX4 then 2/3 pot on flop regardless if you hit or miss

i wont raise the pot pf oop with multiple limpers unless...
my hand is profitable multi-way.
my hand dominates many others.
i can confidently raise BIG, and know i will thin the field significantly.
examples...
JJ+ is to maximize my equity in these hands against weaker callers.
AQo to thin the field, and i wont on a table full of habitual callers. i will just call/check, and take a flop. if i hit, let someone i dominate do the betting.
A2s+ with ATs+, i raise standard, but with A2s-A9s, i raise smaller to "sweeten the pot." i am already thinking of building a big pot for a big draw, and no one can fold 3X with 3+ limpers in.
most hands like KTo, QJo, and 55 are simply too easily dominated/counterfeited by future cards to raise a hand that is going to a flop multi-way. especially, if the table is seeing a lot of showdowns.

Don't underestimate the spewing going on C-betting missed flops into multiple callers in raised pots either. Even if you can justify, which I don't, playing QJ or other marginal hands this way from OOP, C-betting into people who called regardless of flop texture is costly as hell.

Building too many multi-way pots out of position is a great way to lose a lot of money playing NLHE.
