What are some of ur guys opinions on this hands, to me they feel pretty much like a trap. Being suited really adds hardly anything to the hands except maybe a flush draw on the flop on which you can play. But i mean lately in tournies/tables i just throw these hands away because there outkicked esp a/6-9 with no possiblility of a straight...

I never play AXo unless it's late in an SNG (2-3 Opp) and I'll push if i'm small stack here . As for AXs I'll play this from any POS I feel I can get away with without a PFR. Of course MINRaises with lots of callers I still play these in ring games (implied odds if I hit the flush make up for it). Develop your own ideas on these hands but I agree that in general if you play them, without being selective, they are trap hands.

I like suited aces personally. I will limp with them in late position and from the blinds on a normal table and sometimes from mid position on a passive table. Their strong point is their ability to make flushes. To really get paid off with these hands I will usually bet with them when I have a four flush draw.

They do have some value besides just the ability to make flushes though. If you are in late position and nobody has bet and there are only two people with an ace on the board you can usually take the pot. Also, when nobody wants to bet your ace will often take the pot with ace high or best kicker. You don't want to bet with these hands from anywhere but last position with a pair of aces. Obviously if someone else is betting when there is an ace on the board they probably have a better kicker than you. Also, there is the off chance of making a wheel.

I'll raise with suited aces every so often and try to show them down for table image early in a tourny.

Just to emphasize the point that these guys made so that you clearly understand: Ax Offsuit is virtually useless. Ax suited is a playable hand in many situations and can take down some big pots.

id have to disagree with ya there man playing ace 7 in hopes of being flopped 2 pair is like playing k/7 and hope that k/7 hits on the flop..a-5 yeah possibilty of a str8 why not play it sometimes or make a raise with it to confuse the board, but most of the time i wont play it unless its suited (which isn't really that big of a plus)..but most of the time especialy a-7-9 are traps u will probably get kicked on a 10 player board...

When you make two pair sevens and deuces, AK isn't going to pay you off as much as if you make two pair aces and deuces.
