This may be a dumb question but I am fairly new to online poker. I play at Party Poker now but I was playing for play money at Vic Chandler's site. They have a feature where you right click on a player and it gives you a bio of information. Is there anything like that at PP.
The reason I'm asking is I was playing online and my dog comes up huffin and puffin so I click I am out and take him out. When I come back I am in the blinds again and he did something else and I had to get him and I missed my time in one of the blinds (I think).
I get back and this guy starts flaming me and I tell him to screw off and I get pissed and go on my first full tilt.
Anyway, he says that what I did was a Seattle thing, I still can't figure out how he knew I was from Seattle.
Is there a some etiquette I am missing, I mean I wasn't trying to save a quarter, and do you guys get in a lot of pissing contests online or is it just my charming personality.
I guess a big part of this game is staying on an even keel. I should have used the fact that he was pissed to my advantage huh?

mousing over the player at PP gives whatever city you've listed in your profile. i think that's all anyone can find out about you.
there are a few buttheads who want to have a chat fight with you - don't let it upset you, and either ignore it or goad the person to put them on tilt.
for example: i cracked someone's pocket AA with a set of 2's (he tried to slow play them, so i saw the flop and made my set). through chat, i "sucked", "played like an ass", etc, so, after explaining myself one time ("you slowplayed it and got caught"), i responded to each of his insults with "but i've got your money - smiley face". after that, he'd fold to any big raise from me, and finally left the table.
stay calm, and let them tilt.

Don't bother explaining yourself or suggest you play a rational well thought out game. It just will turn the table into better players.
I think I would respond to Mr. Unprotected Aces with, "yeah, I played that like ass, usually I re-raise pre-flop with 22, since most players don't even have a pair."

You said on party poker you can view what town they live in. Is there anyway to fake that? I noticed on Poker Stars, it appears that some people put stupid things in like "Nowhere" and stuff like that. But I haven't really noticed that on PP. I think they should regulate where people are from, so you don't get friends from the same town teaming up.
What do you think?

Well, because you can fake it, there will really be no way to get 2 people from the same city to be blocked. Maybe from the same server. Also, it's possible that 2 people from different cities will team up in the same way.
And, I sometimes go into the same room with my friend Mike. We'll play at the same table with no cheating going on. I wouldn't want you to take that away from me.
If you see cheating, report it. But there is no other good way to do this.
On the same note: My friend Mike played at a round table online. He met someone from the same city he used to live it. As it turned out, it was an old friend from high school. Small world. Don't take that stuff away from people, Natrix.

Well, things come up at home, sometimes it's unavoidable to leave in the middle of a hand (like when my nephew gets into the cleaner shelf and I need to get him away from the bleach) but it is rude.
Here's why I think he may have been mad. He was going for a bluff. You didn't respond so you were treated as all-in. Even if he got everyone else out, he'd still have to show his cards cause there would be a showdown between you and him. He didn't want to show his cards, but you made him. He was mad about that.
As far as me getting into pissing contests. No, never. I take everything said online with a grain of salt. One of the keys to playing a good game is keeping your composure.

Yeah, I don't get involved with chatting. The only thing I'll occasionaly type is "thx" if someone says "nh", and I usually don't even do that most of the time.
It's easy to get riled up chatting with some fool... I think it's better to just ignore all of that.
I decided stop chatting all together on one particular session - there were some players chatting and I wasn't responding at all, so then they started hypothesizing that I was a robot/computer program playing my cards, not a real person, or that I was playing 3 tables at once (which I was), and that I was too busy and serious to chat... which then made them scared of me, giving me a stronger table image, and ended up helping me take down some uncontested pots!
