I was in a freerole tourney last night and went out at rank 35 after doing something my wife called stupid, however I believe it was right choice to make. I would like some advise and opinions on this.

A few rounds earlier I had a bad beat and my stack was down to 8,000. Blinds 1000/2000 ante 50. Big Stack on table 60K+.

At this stage I know I need to win a pot soon to stay in with a chance.

Here how the hand goes. I'm BB and are dealt A/9os everyone folds to the small blind, medium stack 40K. He bets in with a 10K bet.

Now, I'm heads up with A/9os with a chance to double up or go out, question - Do I Call???

In this case I did call, SB has 10/5os and picks up a 5 on the river to win, a bad beat as far as I'm concerned, but did I play it right?

Thanks in advance.

Yep, i would say so, he tried to steal/bully you're small stack, and you had something. Bad Beat for sure. I would've called as well.

tough call... i would have laid it down. A-9 is no reason to bust... get in a position where you are the one pushing, not calling

I second that.

Something i've just really learned is that you need to go all in early enough that doubleing up means something.

soooo many times i've waited to long.

Then I double up and in a few hands need to double up again to stay alive.

start pushing before your sitting at 2 BBs =)

Q. Is poker Gambling?
A. Do you use correct bankroll management?

I don't like calling allins when I'm a desperate stack, it only gives you one way to win. However, this was probably the best hand and you had it won til the river. Whenever you're 3-5x you're basically pushing with any two cards.

Absolute must-call. He's clearly bullying you; I'd call that all day long.

Yeah, you'd rather he limped then you could move in for sure, but I think you have to go with A9 here. He can make this play with any two cards (as he did!), certainly KQ-K10, suited Q, etc and low PPs you're a flip against. Also if he had a real hand you'd think he would make a weaker play trying to tempt you.
