Here's my drunken run...I played 3 tables, but closed it down to just one after not too long as I seemed to be running hot at that table and flat at the others...plus I was watching TV and chatting at the same time and all that is just too hard to manage boozed up at all...

Playing poker while drunk - reckless, gambling poker - needs to be seen as a totally different form of amusement, more like going to a lapdancing bar than playing seriously for money. You can have fun, let your hair down, try things you wouldn't normally do, but expect to come home with empty pockets (having hopefully only allowed yourself a small amount in the first place!).

The moment you confuse it with real poker is the moment you're on the fast track to bustoville.

ya its fine to do when you drop down to much lower stakes than usual and see it as expenses.

tl;dr

I often get somewhat drunk in my low-stakes home game, which is more of a social thing and not a money maker. I suck way more when drunk than when sober.

If my cards are running hot it definetly helps because I gamble a lot more when I've had a couple of beers, but I wouldn't recommend it for the faint of heart.

drinking + poker = -EV
if you're just messing around and want to have fun, there is no fault in that as long as you don't expect to come out of it with more money.

only possible exception is if you have one small drink to loosen yourself up if you are too nervous. even that is questionable. basically operating at diminished capacity does you no good.

Wow...in the morning this whole thing just looks like ... what the hell was I thinking lol

It does seem that a fair amount of drunkeness will bump up my aggression with weakish hands, where I normally would just check or fold but likely have the best hand...and gives me a lot more gamble! Especially after I'm already up some money at the table...not necessarily the worst thing in the world - but surely higher variance...something I mostly try to avoid sobered up.

Ow - my head hurts...

One guy called you down with 7 high, another just called the river with a full house, jacks over kings.

I think you mighta been drunk when you looked at the HH
Look a little bit closer...yes his river 'call' was ridiculous as I don't blocking bet KK there...but he did not have a FH. He was just a retard that decided to call me down with middle pair and got lucky on the river. He was dominated preflop, on the flop and turn and hit a 2-outter...I 'blocking bet' the river as there was a good enough chance that he had KQ or something else that I beat, though I strongly suspected he had rivered me...I got my money back outta him on the later hands with that 7 hi where he hit the ass-end straight vs. my higher straight, and the last hand where he had overs and a flush draw and I rivered a set and got a 'look me up' call from his completely missed hand. Plus a tiny tiny bit with the set of Aces - all of those were against the same player...for some reason he always seemed to think I was bluffing, though I had not bluffed him even once...either that or he was just 'special'.
