For tournament play, the question is what percentage of hands would you play; or if you're familiar with the hand groups of FTR what groups:
at 9 handed table?
6 handed?
4 handed?
heads up?
Don't knock on deaths door... ring the bell and run! Death hates that LOL.

This question is unanswerable because in tournament play, stack sizes and the payout structure are too important to ignore. If I have a tiny stack or a big stack I a playing more hands than if I have a medium sized stack; if I am on the bubble my play may also adapt.

Obviously (as Drew points out) there are many other variables to take into account as well, so I don't think you're doing yourself any favours thinking this way.

Get hold of a copy of Harrington on Hold'em volume one - it will answer this kind of question in the proper detail in an extremely logical and readable way.

The highest ive seen for 6max is 39/28, which is samo, who is probably the best 10/20 reg on stars. Mr. Larry M also is like 40/30. While I envy that these players can be big winners playing like this, it's really fucking hard and you're going to have an impossible time being a winning player doing it unless ur very good.
Check out the new blog!!!

I agree that you aren't thinking about it right. There are far too many factors to consider in a tournament. The question makes more sense in a cash game but if you HAVE to have an answer then drews are about right. The heads up one is REALLY situational though. If you only have a few blinds left in your stack then you should be shoving pretty much every hand (especially if you think your opponent is better than you). If you are still pretty deep stacked then I think 95% is far too many. Im not sure what percentage id go with though.
gabe: Ive dropped almost 100k in the past 35 days.
