Hi new to the board and new to poker been playin for 2 weeks. could some one please explain to me what over cards are, i've read the poker glossary's but still don't understand! thank you

If you have in texas hold 'em and the flop shows

There are two overcards on the board - the which are higher in value than your or individually.

Similarly, if you have :Ac: :Kd: and the flop is :Td: you have 2 overcards.

If the flop is and you hold , you have made top pair because top means highest card on the board. I can't remember hearing the term overpair, but if I had to guess, I would say for the same flop, if you are holding , you have made an overpair, because no card on the board is higher than the queen - the word over denotes higher than the board.
