Preface: I play .50/1 NL and 1/2 NL at Full Tilt.
This play has been bothering me lately. It just seems stupid from the button and cutoff. Basically, I limp in with the same hands I would in middle position, broadways KJ and lower and ATo, AT-2s, 66-22 and sometimes Kxs. (Side note: I do not know anyone who plays KJ as weak as myself).
So is this play really dumb or should I perhaps do it more to balance the fact that my attempt to steal blinds percentage is 45?

I'm having a hard time trying to understand your post. If you are limping the above range (KJ, Ax and smallish pp's) from CO and button and still stealing 45% you are playing too laggy. Those are the hands where you want to "steal" with a raise from late postion because you have position and a vulnerable hand.
There is a lot of sage advice out there that would suggest that you absolutley NEVER limp from any position ever. Whether you choose to play with AA or "air" you should raise.
The only time you should limp along is if you have a few opponents who will not fold their junk ever and completly ignore every raise which is unusual. The other time you limp from late is when you have a couple limpers in front ot you and want to play a family pot with your suited connectors and baby pairs.
In an unopend pot always raise late. If you want to be trickey in an unopened pot and take a risk you should limp your monster hands like AA, KK from CO and button position and hope one of the blinds plays back or flops something to keep him interested. This play works best against a really aggressive player in the blinds.

I never open limp, but someone mentioned a situation to open limp is in the CO or BU with a bunch of limpers, a situation where im raising probably a third of my hands.
I play SH BTW so it may be different.
I'd like to hear some players chime in.

I never open limp as well but will occasionally limp behind a few limpers with suited connectors or small pocket pairs trying to see a flop cheap. Generally I will do this on a table where no one folds to cbets.

you're playing at too high a limit to open-limp in late position! at 10, 25, and perhaps 50, you could get away with it, especially at 10. 100 is too aggro, though, i cannot believe you arent already being punished by the blinds.

open limping these hands in late position is just costing yourself money. you have position for the rest of the hand, and most likely the best hand at this point. Plus, by the taking the lead you are setting yourself up to win with a c-bet a large % of the time. This is one of the easiest ways to get some equity at the table, and I can't understand why you wouldn't.

I don't open limp ever in LP. Raise. Countless pots won just by everyone folding.
BTW, what's your SN?

Open-limping in late position can be a fine play depending on the situation, your hole cards, etc.
If anybody tells you "never" then they are probably wrong in some way.

I know never to say always or never in poker, but raising in spots like these has to be right like 90% of the time

What spot are you talking about? KJ or 22? I think they are very different. I would very rarely just limp KJ in LP, but 22 that is a different story all together.

Is this FR? I'm guessing so...
BTW all open-limps are in position because the only peopel in teh pot so far are the blinds. I guess you mean late position.
The reason to open-limp would be if your opponents play very tight pre-flop but much looser post-flop and much worse than you.
Then you want them to catch bits of the flop and call you down.
The downside of course is that failing to raise means literally any two cards from the BB regardless of opponent. If you're not careful you'll be running into a lot more well-concealed hands yourself.

I have open limped a lot against a 91/0/1 guy on my left. The table was short and the others were weak. But usually I never open limp. A c/bet looks so much better when you raised pre.
