quick comment first. I love your forum the best one I've found up to now, good work.

Now for the real stuff. Here is a strategy that I found works pretty good and has made me quite a bit of money up to now.

first I spot the perfect candidate. I want the guy who has betting patterns. The type of person who will raise 4-5XBB preflop in any position with unpaired cards (any two face cards or even Axo). Then will bet the pot on the flop if he doesn't hit to win it on the flop, because when he does hit he bets less to get action.

Once I spot the candidate, I wait till he does his standard "I have nothing" 4-5XBB raise preflop and call him with any cards. Now his type of raise preflop will usually make it a HU hand which is a good thing for you because you don't want anyone else in the hand. If there is someone else in the hand be very carefull.

On the flop you wait for his bet. Now if he bets the ammount in the pot you know he didn't hit so you call him. if he bets out with a 1/2 pot or even 1/4 pot don't call cause they are "action" bets, he wants you to call whereas with the pot sized bet he doesn't want you to call.

On the turn he will usually check to you in fear that you did hit something and this is where you strike. Put out a 3/4 pot bet and he should fold and voila, easy money for you
One thing that you have to make sure though is that when he usually checks on the turn it means weakness because if it doesn't or you don't know it might cost you lots of $$ because you can expect a reraise. SO TAKE GOOD NOTES!!! and it can be a great money maker.

the great thing about this is that you can do it over and over to the same person and they won't catch on because they are so used to playing like a robot. No imagination what so ever. plays only the card. Its great. I took almost 120$ off of one guy this way.
Have you guys ever tried that. Is there anyother way that I can change this little play to make it more lucrative. what do you think???
later,
rescue

The person you seek out describes some of most sucessful people in this forum. The only difference is they adapt and make YOU pay eventually.

Exactly I would trap you eventually and take your entire stack.

This strategy is why I raise the same amount pre-flop with high pairs and AK/AQ, and bet the same amount (about 2/3 of the pot) whether I have something or not. It's also a good argument for very occasionally limping a good hand. You can't afford to be too transparent.

yeah you're right about traping me for lots of cash, but that is why I made the comment about taking good notes because the person who I was doing this to always had the same routine and in all the time I was in that game with him I never saw him do a check raise. he always checked when he was weak. but you are right that that is a good way to get trapped and costing me lots of money.

I think that sounds like excellent play. Just be aware that not everyone is a total moron and they will catch on. I play six handed and I love to trap people who think they have me figured out. Of course, sometimes I play alot of tables and I don't have time to figure out what to do. If I'm playing 3 or 4 tables and I suspect someone is doing this to me I will just change tables.

Good idea for the fishies, but its been said already, many of the better players will let you do this 2-3 times, then slam you for your stack. It works, just make sure the guys is a robot, and tons of them exist.
